Jamestown Fire Department responds to field fire Wednesday morning

The Jamestown Fire Department responded to a field fire Wednesday morning near the Highway 127 Bypass and Highway 92.

Firefighters were called out at around 10:30 Wednesday morning and found a wheat field on fire. Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers said the fire was caused by a hay baler.

Firefighters were able to stop the spread of the fire, which only affected about 5 acres, according to officials.

12 firefighters were on scene for just over an hour. No injuries were reported in the incident.
