South KY RECC members will see increase in monthly bill

South Kentucky RECC members will soon see an increase in their monthly bill.

The Kentucky Public Service Commission has approved a change that allows East Kentucky Power Cooperative to increase the cost of power it provides to South Kentucky RECC for the first time since 2021.

The increase is expected to be an average of a little over $6/month for South Kentucky RECC customers.

The local electric cooperative cited increased costs for materials such as transformers, poles, and wires. They also noted investments in a new power plant in Casey County and an additional generating unit at Cooper Power Plant in Pulaski County, along with other system-wide improvements.
