NexGen Civics Club assisting county with digitizing documents

The NexGen Civics Club, made up of Russell County High School students, is assisting county officials with an important project.

Judge-Executive Randy Marcum said students from the group are working on a project aimed at digitizing fiscal court documents from years past. These documents will then be placed into a system that will allow county officials to easily search for them, either by date or key word.

The county received a grant to start the NexGen Civics Club through Russell County High School. The club provides opportunities for students to work at the courthouse and be paid. It also provides learning opportunities and experiences for students to become better acquainted with the functions and responsibilities of county government.
