A Somerset man was killed in a collision in Rockcastle County over the weekend.
Kentucky State Police say it happened at around 1 p.m. local time on Saturday on KY 461 known as Lake Cumberland Road.
State Police say a 2011 Mercury Grand Marquis operated by 70-year-old Hollis Smith of Somerset was traveling north on KY 461 when he crossed the center line into the path of a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia operated by 32-year-old Jeffson Joseph of Florida.
As a result of the collision, Mr. Smith received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner.
State Police say drugs or alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the collision, but an autopsy was requested and is pending at this time.
The incident remains under investigation by Detective Shane Bowling with Kentucky State Police Post 11.
