Russell County is now classified as being in a severe drought by the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The Russell County Mesonet station in the Ono community has reported less than half-an-inch of rain over the last 30 days.
Drought conditions in the far western portion of the state are more severe, with some areas reaching the extreme drought classification.
Rain is expected on Saturday in the area, but likely will do little to address ongoing drought concerns.
