Russell County and much of the Lake Cumberland area remain in severe drought, according to the latest data from the U.S. Drought Monitor.
The Russell County Mesonet station has recorded just over an inch-and-a-half of rainfall over the last six weeks.
Areas just west of Bowling Green and Warren County are considered to be in extreme drought.
Officials remind area residents that dry conditions can create dangerous conditions for burning. The spring fire season continues through April 30.
There should be no burning within 150 feet of any woodland or brushland and burning is restricted except between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m.
