We’re learning more about two recent arrests involving an alleged rape and human trafficking.
47-year-old Melina Bell was arrested last Friday and charged with human trafficking – commercial sexual activity with the victim being under 18 years old.
29-year-old Trevor Taylor of Whitley City was also arrested and charged with rape – third degree. In Kentucky, a person is guilty of rape – third degree when the person is 21 years or older and engages in sexual intercourse with another person under the age of 16.
According to court documents filed by Kentucky State Police, Bell allegedly communicated with Taylor and arranged for him to meet with a 15-year-old minor. State Police say in the documents that Taylor admitted to meeting with the minor and having sexual contact.
The victim reportedly told state police that she and Taylor engaged in sexual intercourse. In the criminal complaint, state police allege Taylor paid Bell $55 for the meeting.
Both Bell and Taylor remain lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
