Russell County will be the recipient of a portion of the latest round of state opioid abatement funds.
In Russell County, The Support Agency will receive a little over $18,000 for the distribution of Deterra In-Home Disposal Pouches. These pouches aim to make drug disposal simpler, neutralizing unused pills and other medications, removing the risk of them being misused by others.
OPERATION UNITE chapters in Russell, Pulaski, Martin, Lawrence, and Madison counties will receive a combined $500,000 to support youth prevention programming.
The Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission awarded more than 100 organizations across the state with more than $34 million in grant money in its largest settlement fund distribution yet. The money comes from settlements with pharmaceutical companies involved in the drug crisis.
