A Russell Springs man was killed in what police say was an alleged hit-and-run in Sevierville, Tennessee yesterday morning.
Sevierville Police say 73-year-old Henry “Hank” Smith was struck by a Ford transit van sometime Monday morning in the southbound lanes of the Winfield Dunn Parkway.
Sevierville Police said they were called out at 6:45 a.m. local time yesterday after a passerby called 911 to report a man lying in the roadway. When police arrived, they found Smith, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Later in the day, Sevierville Police arrested 34-year-old Enrique Estrada Martinez of Knoxville. Martinez was charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a death and driving without a license.
Martinez was lodged in the Sevier County Jail.
