The Lady Laker Softball team also lost a heartbreaker yesterday, falling 5-4 to Southwestern as the Lady Warriors hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the 7th to get the win.
After falling down 4-2 after 3 innings, the Lady Lakers came back and tied the game at 4-4 in the 5th inning. However, a double in the bottom of the 7th scored the winning run from first base to give Southwestern the win.
Miley Rankins and Madelyn Roy led Russell County with 2 hits each. Addy Abrell hit her first home run of the season in the game as well.
The Lady Lakers are now 2-2 on the season. They will be back in action on Thursday, hosting Wayne County.
