The Jamestown Police Department is seeking a grant to update its service weapons.
Jamestown Police Chief Jeff Kerns announced at the most recent city council meeting that the department is seeking a grant from the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security to update the department’s weapons.
Kerns said the department’s duty pistols and patrol rifles are at the point 0f needing to be upgraded or replaced. Police Officer Nathan Antle, who was also in attendance, told the council the grant would fund most, if not all, of the cost of replacing the service weapons.
The Jamestown City Council voted unanimously to move forward with pursuing the grant for the police department.
