Sheriff’s office responded to nearly 500 calls in January

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office responded to nearly 500 calls for service during the month of January.

The sheriff’s office reported 54 arrests last month along with 149 traffic stops and 19 traffic collisions worked.

Deputies responded to 27 motorist assists, 15 alarm calls and 11 animal complaints last month.

Deputies also responded to 9 suspicious person complaints and performed 11 welfare checks.

The sheriff’s office performed 204 vehicle inspections and issued 28 concealed carry of deadly weapons permits.

The sheriff’s office also reported collecting over $330,000 in property taxes during the month of January.
