A recent water issue at Salem Elementary has caused notable damage to the gymnasium floor at Salem Elementary.
Last month, there was a water break in the Salem community. Superintendent Michael Ford said after the water was shut off and then turned back on, a valve issue resulted in a significant amount of water pouring into the school gym.
Ford said the gym floor is buckled and is not safe for use, except for very limited purposes.
Ford said the board of education will most likely need to have a special-called meeting soon to begin work on replacing the gym floor.
A special-called meeting has not yet been announced, but WJRS News will provide more details as they are available.
