Lady Lakers defeat Clinton, Lakers fall to Metcalfe in district tournament

The Lady Laker Basketball team advanced in the 16th District Tournament with a 49-37 win over Clinton County yesterday.

The Lady Lakers were led by a strong performance from senior Aniyah Coffey, who scored 24 points in the victory. Natalie Bartrug and Addy Abrell each added 11 points for Russell County.

The Lady Lakers now prepare for a matchup with the Cumberland County Lady Panthers tonight. The Lady Panthers are the top seed in the district this year, with an 8-1 mark against district opponents this season.

Tip-off for tonight’s game is scheduled for 6:00 at Clinton County High School.

The Laker Basketball team saw its season come to an end last night, as Russell County fell to Metcalfe County 66-55 in district tournament action.

Dylan Stanelle led Russell County with 22 points on the night. Maddox Shearer finished with 18 and Max Davis with 6 points.

The Lakers finish the season with a final record of 15-12.
