The Lake Cumberland District Health Department is emphasizing the importance of vaccinations with a notable increase in respiratory illness in the Lake Cumberland Area.
The health department says it’s particularly important for certain populations to consider vaccination against viruses like the flu and COVID-19. These include older adults and those with chronic diseases like asthma or diabetes.
While the vaccinations do not completely prevent a person from contracting one of these viruses, the health department said symptoms are likely to be milder and less likely to need hospitalization.
