Lady Lakers finish as runner-up in 2A sectional; host Wayne County tonight

The Russell County Lady Lakers finished as runner-up in the 2A sectional over the weekend.

The Lady Lakers defeated Lincoln County 59-57 on Friday night. Addy Abrell led Russell County with 18 points. Aniyah Coffey scored 12 points and Carigann Carpenter scored 11. Natalie Bartrug and McKenna Ccamaque each scored 9 points in the win.

The Lady Lakers took on Taylor County in the sectional final on Saturday, falling 47-34 to the Lady Cardinals. Coffey led Russell County with 13 points. Ccamaque scored 7 points and Abrell added 6.

The Lady Lakers are back in action at home tonight, hosting Wayne County with tip-off scheduled for 7:00.
