Today is deadline to pay property taxes; sheriff’s office open today

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is reminding county property owners that today is the last day to pay property taxes before late penalties are applied.

After today, a 5 percent penalty fee will be added to any property tax bills that haven’t been paid.

The Russell County Sheriff’s Office will be open from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. today to accept payments.

Property taxes can be paid by credit card, check or cash. Credit card payments will include a small fee.

Payments can also be mailed, but it must be postmarked by today to avoid the 5 percent penalty.
Anyone with questions can contact the Russell County Sheriff’s Office at 270-343-2191.
