Liberty-Casey County residents asked to conserve water as Lake Liberty levels reach near record low

Residents of the City of Liberty and Casey County are being asked to conserve water as the levels at Lake Liberty have reached near historic lows.

Lake Liberty is the main water supply for the City of Liberty, but also provides water across other areas of Casey County.

Over the next few weeks, residents across Casey County are asked to conserve water to the best of their ability. City officials are advising residents to take certain measures like opting for a shower over a bath, only run washers or dishwashers with a full load, and make sure any leaks are reported.

The lake reached extremely low levels like this in December 2023 as well.
