Edward Rooks, of Columbia, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Russell County Hospital, in Russell Springs. He was 76 years of age.
Born December 20, 1948, in Adair County, he was a son of the late John and Pearl Bryant Rooks. Edward worked as a drywall installer for over 40 years. He spent most of his time working, but when he did take time off, he enjoyed coon hunting and horseback riding.
Survivors include one brother, Ira Rooks, of Columbia; a sister, Clarene Sinclair, of Columbia; five nieces, Brenda (and Charles) Shepherd, of Columbia, Margie (and Danny) Rooks, of Columbia, Barbara (and Jackie) Bryant, of Trafalgar, Indiana, Holly (and Paul) Kerns, of Russell Springs, and Teresa (and Bobby) DeVore, of Columbia; and four nephews, Robyn (and Linda) Rooks, of Versailles, Bobby (and Tina) Sinclair, of Columbia, Roger (and Bonnie) Bennett, of Danville, Indiana, and Tony (and Christy) Rooks, of Mooresville, Indiana.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sherlene Rooks, who passed away May 4, 2022; a brother, Arvin Rooks; and a sister, Arlene Bennett.
Funeral services are 1:00 PM CST Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Bernard Funeral Home, with Bro. Craig Huddleston officiating. Burial will be in Free Union Cemetery. There will be no services at the cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 11:00 AM Tuesday and continue until time of services.
Robyn Rooks, Tony Rooks, Bobby Sinclair, Danny Rooks, Bobby DeVore, Jackie Bryant, and Paul Kerns will serve as pallbearers.
