Those who haven’t paid their county property taxes and want to avoid the 5 percent penalty will need to make those payments soon.
The Russell County Sheriff’s Office is reminding county property owners that the last day to pay property taxes and avoid the 5 percent penalty is December 31.
Any mailed payments must be postmarked by the 31st to avoid the penalty, which will be added on to bills beginning January 1.
Property taxes can be paid by credit card, check or cash. Credit card payments will include a small fee.
