RSES earns green rating on state assessment

Russell Springs Elementary received an overall green rating based on scores from last year’s state assessment.

Green is the second-highest color rating a school can receive from the state.

Russell Springs Elementary earned green ratings for each of the subjects on the assessment, and significantly outpaced state averages in each subject as well in terms of the percentage of students scoring proficient or distinguished.

In the reading section, 65 percent of students scored proficient or distinguished. That was 16 percent higher than state average.

In math, 56 percent scored proficient or distinguished – 13 percent higher than state average.

In science, 51 percent scored proficient or distinguished – 14 percent higher than state average.

In social studies, 62 percent scored proficient or distinguished – 24 percent higher than state average.

In combined writing, 80 percent of Russell Springs Elementary students scored proficient or distinguished. That was 37 percent higher than state average.
