The Eli Volunteer Fire Department responded to a fire at a residence on Dockery Road off Parksridge Road Friday evening.
Fire crews were called out at around 5:15 Friday evening.
On scene, firefighters confirmed the fire began in the attic and was beginning to spread.
Fire officials say the home and its contents received extensive damage. Officials said they were able to save pets within the home and return them to the occupants.
14 firefighters responded to the scene and were on scene for about 4 hours. The fire remains under investigation at this time.
