County recognizing veterans with Operation Green Light; special ceremony with RCHS NJROTC

November 4-11 is recognized as Operation Green Light for Veterans Week.

Russell County Judge-Executive Randy Marcum joined the Russell County High School NJROTC chapter yesterday to sign a proclamation for the honor.

Chief Dennis Kiser with the Russell County NJROTC said Operation Green Light is about recognizing those who have served the country, no matter which branch.

Kiser said it is special for the NJROTC students to be part of the proclamation signing, as well as recent events like the Russell County Bicentennial Festival.

To recognize United States Military veterans, residents, businesses, and community organizations are encouraged to display a green light in their homes or workplaces as a symbol of gratitude for veterans and their families.

She also explains the convenience of the screening process and thanks the Russell County School System and hospital staff for helping make the event a success.
