Russell County remains in moderate drought; burn ban still in effect

Russell County remains in moderate drought headed into Labor Day weekend, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Russell County and Casey County remain completely in the moderate drought category, while most of Wayne County and portions of Pulaski, Adair, Clinton and Cumberland counties are classified as being in moderate drought.

A burn ban remains in place for Russell, Adair, and Casey counties.

The local mesonet station in the Ono community has recorded less than two-and-one-quarter inches of rain in Russell County over the last six weeks.
