Lady Laker Volleyball wins first district game of season

The Lady Laker Volleyball team picked up a close win in its first district game of the season.

The Lady Lakers defeated the Metcalfe County Lady Hornets 3-2 in 5 sets last night.

After falling 25-22 in the first set, the Lady Lakers bounced back and won a tightly-contested 2nd set by a score of 25-23. The Lady Hornets won the third set 25-22, but the Lady Lakers came out strong in the fourth set and won 25-16. In the final set, the Lady Lakers won 15-10 to secure the victory and move to 2-2 on the season.

The Russell County JV and freshman teams each defeated the Lady Hornets 2 sets to 0.

The Lady Lakers are back at home tomorrow, hosting Casey County in the Kentucky 2A tournament. Freshman and JV teams will also be in action, getting underway at 5 p.m.
