County-wide burn ban no longer in effect

Update (2:25 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2025) : The burn ban has been lifted.

A county-wide burn ban remains in effect.

Drought conditions throughout the county means open burning can be dangerous and easily lead to wildfires.

Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum issued a county-wide burn ban earlier this week and it remains in effect until further notice.

We’ll keep you updated on when the burn ban is lifted.
