Kentucky Fish and Wildlife urge boater safety over holiday weekend, extra patrols around the lake

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources game wardens will be increasing patrols around Lake Cumberland and across the state to help keep waterways safe over the holiday weekend.

This increased effort is held in conjunction with “Operation Dry Water,” a heightened awareness and enforcement campaign designed to educate the public about the dangers of boating under the influence.

Law enforcement officers encourage those who are going to be on the water this weekend to designate someone to drive the boat who will abstain from alcohol.

Officers also are reminding anyone on the water to wear a life jacket.
