Dunbar discusses jail’s work release programs

Several inmates at the Russell County Detention Center are working in the community through the center’s work release programs.

These work release programs are for inmates who have been designated as low level, low risk offenders.

Russell County Jailer Bobby Dunbar recently was a guest on Community Conversation on WJRS to discuss the different work release programs, including a new one at the transfer station.

Inmates in the work release program also assist at the local animal spay and neuter clinics, and with the county’s animal control.

Dunbar also noted that inmates in the work release program have not had any failed drug tests this year. Inmates in the program are drug-tested three times per week.
