The Russell County Board of Education approved a change in the school district’s insurance carrier at its meeting earlier today.
The board approved a new policy agreement with Bluegrass Risk Management, a relatively new company that has begun offering property and casualty insurance for school districts.
Superintendent Michael Ford spoke to WJRS News following the meeting to discuss why he recommended switching insurance carriers and thanked Liberty Mutual for a long partnership.
Bluegrass Risk Management insures about 20 percent of school districts in Kentucky.
The board unanimously approved the new agreement.
