Resolution to rename Highway 127 in memory of Phipps signed by Beshear

Yesterday on local news, we reported the bill that would name Highway 127 in Russell County in memory of fallen deputy Joshua Phipps passed through the legislature.

That bill has now been signed by Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, giving it final approval.

House Joint Resolution 5 passed through the legislature unanimously. It was sponsored by Representative Josh Branscum.

The resolution would name the portion of Highway 127 in Russell County the “Deputy Sheriff Joshua Phipps Memorial Highway.”

The resolution also states that signs would be placed noting the new name within 30 days of it becoming effective.
