City of Russell Springs warning of email scam

The City of Russell Springs is warning residents about an email scam.

Some local residents have received an email claiming to be a representative from the city government. The email even has the name and address of property owners. The email asks people to provide personal information for an assistance application, but city officials are warning residents that this is a scam.

Mayor Eddie Thomas is reminding residents that the city does not send out emails from outside addresses. The scam emails currently circulating originate from an email address labeled “operators@utiladolly.com”

Those who receive these emails are asked to mark them as spam and delete them. Anyone with concerns can call City Hall at 270-866-3981 or stop by in-person.
