A bill in the state legislature would eliminate non-traditional instruction days.
School districts receive 10 NTI days per school year. These NTI days can be used in cases of inclement weather or widespread illness in schools.
At the most recent board of education meeting, Russell County Schools Superintendent Michael Ford said NTI creates opportunities to meet student needs that otherwise may not exist when students aren’t in the classroom.
Ford made those comments after talking about how school employees were out delivering meals to students and families during a recent NTI day.
House Bill 737 was moved to committee yesterday. It has not been voted on in either the House or Senate.
