Heavy rainfall on Saturday caused local flooding and travel issues.
The local mesonet station reported nearly 4 inches of rain on Saturday. That’s the highest amount recorded in a day since the station began reporting in 2023.
Roadways across the county were affected by rainfall. Highway 76 and Hales Highway were among those heavily impacted by high water, according to the transportation cabinet.
Decatur Road, Clear Springs Road, and Mt. Eden Road were also heavily impacted, among many others.
Flooding was widespread across the state. The White House approved an emergency disaster declaration for the state. That will open up federal funding for affected areas.
