Russell Springs Police Chief Bryan Shepard was a guest on Community Conversations on WJRS yesterday to discuss the issue of cars lining up in the emergency lane on Highway 127 by Russell Springs Elementary School in the afternoon before student pick-up.
Shepard said he has not received any complaints about cars parked in the emergency lane, and the state highway department has not raised an issue about it.
Shepard also said the police department’s safety officer is at the school in the morning and afternoon directing traffic, and she has not reported any issues either.
Shepard said the department is willing to cooperate and work with the school district and the Russell Springs Elementary School Resource Officer if problems arise.
