Lady Lakers fall on late three; Lakers defeat Metcalfe in OT

Russell County went on the road and split last night’s district doubleheader at Metcalfe County.

The Lady Lakers fell to the Lady Hornets by a score of 37-34 in the first game after Metcalfe County’s Lily Blythe hit a three with just under 10 seconds remaining to give the Lady Hornets the lead and the win.

Addison Hart led Russell County with 11 points and Aniyah Coffey added 9.

In the nightcap, the Lakers came away with an 87-78 victory over the Hornets in overtime.

Owen Loy led the Lakers with 21 points, followed by Maddox Shearer with 17, Dylan Stanelle with 16, and Mayes Gosser with 14.

The Lakers and Lady Lakers will be back in action Friday when they go on the road for another district doubleheader, this one at Monroe County.
