The Russell County Fiscal Court held the first reading of an ordinance this week that would require anyone hauling garbage, notably to the landfill, to have that truck or trailer covered.
Russell County Judge Executive Randy Marcum said the ordinance hopes to address problems with litter along roadways.
A second reading and vote on the ordinance is expected at next month’s fiscal court meeting.
