Lakers defeat Adair County in 2A semifinals, move to sectional championship

The Russell County Laker Basketball team defeated Adair County last night in the 2A section quarterfinals by a score of 66-64.

The Lakers were led by a standout performance by junior Dylan Stanelle, who scored a team-high 25 points. Owen Loy added 15 points for the Lakers, while Mayes Gosser scored 12 and Maddox Shearer added 10.

With the win, the Lakers advance to the Section 4 championship, which will take place on Saturday at LaRue County High School. The Lakers will take on the host LaRue County beginning at 5:30 p.m. CT.

With the championship being played on Saturday, tomorrow’s matchup between Russell County and Monroe County will be postponed.
