The Laker Basketball team finished 2-1 at a tournament at Apollo High School over the weekend.
The Lakers picked up a 67-48 win over Apollo on Friday night, with Mayes Gosser picking up Player of the Game honors by leading Russell County with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Maddox Shearer added 13, Owen Loy scored 12 and Bryson Irvin added 11.
The Lakers defeated Morgan County 82-71 on Saturday with Owen Loy picking up Player of the Game honors. Loy scored 18 points and grabbed 7 rebounds for the Lakers in the victory. Mayes Gosser led the Lakers in scoring with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Dylan Stanelle scored 13, Maddox Shearer scored 12, and Logan Walters added 10.
The Lakers came up just short against Allen County-Scottsville in the final game, falling by a score of 51-50.
Bryson Irvin led the Lakers with 16 points, followed by Mayes Gosser with 11 and Owen Loy and Maddox Shearer with 9 each.
The Lakers now prepare to head to Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic getting underway on Thursday.
