Lady Lakers finish as runner-up in Berea tournament

The Russell County Lady Laker Basketball team had an impressive run at the Giovanni’s Berea Holiday Classic over the weekend.

The Lady Lakers started things off with a 52-27 victory over Pleasure Ridge Park on Friday. Natalie Bartrug was named Player of the Game in that win, scoring 8 points.

The Lady Lakers defeated Montgomery County on Saturday by a score of 50-42. Karley Luttrell was named Player of the Game, finishing with 10 points and 9 rebounds.

The Lady Lakers won easily over Valley yesterday afternoon by a score of 87-45. It was Addison Hart earning postgame honors, scoring 16 points in the win.

The Lady Lakers fell in the championship game to Covington Holy Cross by a score of 69-58. Aniyah Coffey led Russell County in scoring with 16 points.

Karley Luttrell was named to the All-Tournament team.

The Lady Lakers now sit at 6-7 on the season and will be back in action on Friday night, as part of a home doubleheader against district opponent Monroe County.
