School board to meet in special session tomorrow

The Russell County Board of Education will meet in special session tomorrow morning to consider two change orders on the old area technology center project.

Superintendent Michael Ford said the two orders are for extra work the district hoped to be able to do if the project went well, and because of that, they are considering those proposals.

The board will consider concrete work totaling around $35,000, and will also consider asphalt paving totaling a little under $82,000 but the asphalt proposal will likely be just for information with a decision likely coming at the board’s regular meeting later this month.

Ford said neither of the proposals add to the overall budget of the project, but would come out of the contingency that was already built into the project budget.

The board will meet at 8 a.m. in the room above the pool at the Russell County ANC.

The meeting is open to the public. We’ll have more on local news following the meeting.
