The upcoming closure of Fishing Creek Bridge on Highway 80 in Pulaski County has been postponed a few days.
Fishing Creek Bridge was originally scheduled to be closed beginning next Wednesday, but the state transportation cabinet has postponed the closure to Monday, November 11.
Work began earlier this month on a nearly $7 million project to replace the bridge deck. The transportation cabinet said these routine repairs will increase the lifespan of the structure to serve future needs of the traveling public.
The cabinet said a full closure will allow crews to complete the project as quickly and safely as possible. The contract between the transportation cabinet and the contractor limits the closure to 75 days.
The bridge reportedly serves more than 5,000 vehicles per day.
