New sheriff, jailer in Adair County sworn-in

Two new county officials were sworn-in Tuesday night in Adair County.

Jamie Richard was sworn-in as the next Adair County Sheriff, and Buddy Powell was sworn-in as the next Adair County Jailer.

Richard currently serves as the jailer in Adair County, but will take over the office of sheriff when current sheriff Josh Brockman’s retirement becomes effective next Tuesday.

Both offices will be up for election in 2026.
