The candidate filing deadline for this November’s general election is today.
Those interested in filing for school board in districts 1, 3, and 5; city council, and the soil and water conservation board have until 4 p.m. today to file paperwork to run for office.
At last check on Monday, incumbent school board members Brenda Higginbotham, Joy Wilson, and Gerald Murray have filed for re-election with no challengers.
In Russell Springs, incumbent city council members Cody Wilson, Sherry Daniel, Ricky Barnes, David Blakey, and Timmy Hudson have filed. Gary Frost has also filed to run for city council. There are six available seats on the council.
In Jamestown, five incumbents have filed for re-election to their city council seats. Dwight Richards, Terry Robertson, Tony Wright, Mitchell Marcum and William Murray have filed for re-election. There are six available seats on the Jamestown Council as well.
For the soil and water conservation board, three seats are available. Two candidates have filed for that office at last check: Victor Cooper and Shane Roy.
