More details released about Wednesday house fire

More details have been released about a house fire that occurred Wednesday evening.

According to Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers, crews were called out to a structure fire on Hughes Road off Highway 1680 at around 5 Wednesday evening.

Once there, fire crews encountered a one-story brick home with fire in the front area of the house and heavy smoke throughout. Fire crews were able to work quickly and contain the fire to the living room and kitchen area of the home.

Crews from the South Russell station were called in to assist with the effort.

No injuries were reported from the fire, but one firefighter’s personal vehicle was damaged while responding when they struck a deer.

Russell County Emergency Management and the American Red Cross assisted at the scene.
