Russell Springs holds first reading of new water and sewer rates

The Russell Springs City Council held the first reading of proposed new water and sewer rates in light of recent increases to wholesale rates from the City of Jamestown.

Russell Springs is facing a 31.5 percent increase on the wholesale rate to receive water from Jamestown as well as over 50 percent on the wholesale rate for sewer.

WJRS News caught up with Mayor Eddie Thomas to talk about the proposed changes.

Last night was the first reading of the ordinance. The council will have to hold a second reading before voting.
