Lady Lakers pick up pair of wins, Lakers fall at Caverna in weekend basketball action

The Russell County Laker and Lady Laker Basketball teams were in action over the weekend.

The Lady Lakers picked up a pair of wins over the weekend, starting with a dominant 70-28 win Friday on the road at McCreary Central.

The Lady Lakers had their second-highest scoring game of the season in the win, with four Lady Lakers finishing in double figures.

Addy Abrell and Aysha Sutton each finished with 14 points, followed by Rachel Bolin with 13 and Karley Luttrell with 11.

Bolin finished with a double-double on the night, adding 11 rebounds.

On Saturday, the Lady Lakers picked up another win, this time defeating Edmonson County at home by a score of 60-48.

Bolin led the Lady Lakers with 19 points in the victory.

On Friday, the Lakers were on the road at Caverna, falling to the Colonels by a score of 76-68.

Owen Loy led Russell County with 23 points on the night, as Mayes Gosser added 16 and Maddox Shearer added 12.

The Lakers and Lady Lakers are back in action tomorrow with both squads going on the road. The Lakers will travel to Danville for a matchup with the Admirals, while the Lady Lakers go on the road to Green County.
