A Columbia man was arrested yesterday following a child abuse investigation in neighboring Adair County.
According to Columbia Police, 19-year-old Steven Powell is charged with criminal abuse first degree involving a child under 12, but more charges and arrests are possible.
According to police, the investigation began earlier this week after a four-week-old infant was brought to TJ Samson Columbia with serious injuries before being flown to Norton’s Children’s Hospital in Louisville. The infant reportedly had multiple broken bones including a fractured skull.
Powell, the father of the infant, was taken into custody by Columbia Police and lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
