Last night’s doubleheader between Russell County and Cumberland County was action-packed.
In the first game, the Lady Lakers and Lady Panthers went into double-overtime, where the Lady Panthers prevailed by a score of 63-59.
It was a tough loss for the Lady Lakers, who are now 10-7 on the season and 2-2 in district play.
The nightcap between the Lakers and Panthers went down to the wire as well, with Mayes Gosser scoring on a contested layup with just three seconds remaining in regulation to give the Lakers the 63-61 win.
The Lakers improved to 9-7 on the season win and now hold a 4-0 mark in district play.
The Lakers are scheduled to be at home tonight, hosting Green County in a JV/Varsity matchup beginning at 6 p.m.
The Lady Lakers are scheduled to be back at home on Friday, taking on the Grace James Academy at 6 p.m.
