Leonard Hadley

Leonard Hadley, a devoted husband, father, and friend, peacefully passed away December 26, 2023, surrounded by his children. Retired from Fruit of the Loom in Jamestown, Leonard’s true passion was in his farming, cultivating a life rich in simplicity and deep connections.

Leonard’s heart beat strongest for his cherished wife, Shirley, of 32 years, whom he wed December 7, 1963. Leonard also had an unwavering love for his children, grandchildren, his church family and community. Whether atop his trusty 4-wheeler tending to the needs of his cows or nestled in a tractor ensuring his animals were cared for, or loving on one his greatest companions, his dog, Rocky; Leonard’s days were marked by a quiet dedication to his craft.

Living humbly, Leonard’s greatest wealth lay in the profound love he bestowed upon his family. His willingness to share words of encouragement and insights into life’s challenges became a guiding light for those fortunate enough to seek his wisdom. Leonard’s legacy lives on in the lessons learned and the love shared within the tight-knit circles of family and friends.

In honoring Leonard Hadley, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life built on love, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he held dear. May his memory continue to inspire us all to embrace the simplicity of a humble and loving existence.

Leonard is survived by his children, Troy Wayne (and Tonya) Hadley, Treva Ann Hadley Cowan, and Trent Edward (and Martina) Hadley, all of Russell Springs; four grandchildren, Baylee Ann Hadley, of Louisville, Taylor Lynn (and Kelsey) Cowan, of Russell Springs, Briley Wayne Hadley, of Russell Springs, and Hayes William Hadley, of Russell Springs; and one great-granddaughter on-the-way. Leonard is also survived by a sister, Lucille Polston, of Louisville; a special friend, Carol Greer; and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Campbell Hadley, who passed away on November 24, 1995; two brothers, Arvis Hadley and Paul Junior Hadley; and three sisters, Maxine McDonald, Mary Helen Grant, and Imogene Coffey Grant.
