Russell County Schools one of best-performing in area on state assessments

The Russell County School District was one of the best in the surrounding area on last year’s state assessments, according to the latest data from the Kentucky School Report Card.

Russell County Schools received a green rating across the board for the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The green rating is the second-best rating a school can receive of the five ratings.

By the rating system used, blue is the best rating a school or district can receive. Green is the second-best, followed by yellow, orange, and finally red, the worst rating a school or district can receive.

Looking at neighboring school districts, Adair County Schools received yellow ratings at the high school and middle school level, and orange at the elementary.

Pulaski County Schools received green ratings across the board like Russell County.

Somerset Independent Schools received a blue rating at the elementary level, along with green ratings at the middle and high school level.

Wayne County Schools received yellow ratings across the board.

Clinton County Schools received a green rating at the high school level, along with yellow at the middle school and orange at the elementary school.

Cumberland County Schools received yellow ratings at the elementary and high school levels, and an orange rating at the middle school level.

Finally, Casey County Schools received yellow ratings at the elementary and middle school levels, and a green rating at the high school level.
